As parts of the country begin to reopen, many of our clients are anxious to return to work. While you can't solve every problem they face, you can help them make a strong return. Many of your clients who are thinking about reopening are not only upset at the feeling of "I'm ready to reopen my business", but also "I don't know what to expect when I reopen". While we can't solve every problem we encounter, there is much to help our customers make a strong return. Here are five tips that can help you take your customers to the next step in our "new routine."

Tip # 1: Help them see the whole picture
Very few businesses, at least not yet, will return to the level of lockdown before the revenue. The demand for the transfer may increase sales for a few weeks, but the need for social distance and lower consumer incomes will mean lower incomes for many businesses in the future. While your clients may feel anxious about losing income, it's important not to let them stay on your top line for too long. When you help your customers see the whole picture - not only the declining revenue, but also the falling costs that naturally accompany them - it takes away some of the fear of how their business will survive. Tip # 4: Set up a cash management system
Once sales begin to pick up again, your clients will agree to some increase in costs, or at least return to normal costs. Tip # 5: Provide a support group
You know, you're not a doctor. But you don't have to make a huge impact on your customers by setting up a support group. If you have clients in the same geographic location or in similar industries, consider introducing them to each other in a (virtual) group setting. Depending on your clients, it may take some time for them to open up to each other about what they are doing to help get their business back on track. But, for once, they will benefit from each other's knowledge and experience to help them all succeed in our new economic environment. In many ways, this reopening period can be as stressful for your clients as starting your own business. As their accountant or bookkeeper, you are uniquely positioned to help your clients make reopening successful and profitable.
